This research was conducted in collaboration with the American Heart Association and sheds new light on the potential health implications of microplastic pollution.

The study's authors analyzed plaque samples from 30 patients using advanced imaging techniques, including scanning electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. The results revealed the presence of micro-nano-plastics in all samples, with an average concentration of 1.2 million particles per gram of plaque. This is a significant finding, as it suggests that plastic pollution may be more directly linked to cardiovascular disease than previously thought.
