TELOTEST — TELOMERE TEST AND BIOLOGICAL AGE

TeloTest™ measures the length of your telomeres and helps assess your body's biological age. The results offer insight into cellular ageing processes and let you care for your health more purposefully.

Overview

What is TeloTest™?

TeloTest™ is a Fagron Genomics test that determines the length of the telomeres in your cells. Telomeres are protective structures at the ends of chromosomes that become shorter with each cell division. Their length is considered one of the indicators of cellular ageing.

By comparing the measured telomere length with average values for the corresponding age group, the test allows the so-called biological age to be assessed — how "young" or "aged" the body is at the cellular level. Biological age does not always coincide with chronological age and is influenced by lifestyle, stress, nutrition and physical activity.

TeloTest™ is not a disease-diagnostic test and does not predict specific illnesses. Its purpose is to provide an objective reference point from which to begin conscious care for your health, as well as the option to repeat the measurement later to assess the impact of lifestyle changes.

What we analyse

What does TeloTest™ show?

The test and its accompanying report help you understand several aspects related to ageing:

The average telomere length in your cells

The approximate biological age compared with chronological age

Where your telomere length sits within your age group

A general assessment of the pace of cellular ageing

A reference point for future measurements

The possible influence of lifestyle factors

Recommendations to support a healthy lifestyle

A basis for a conversation with your doctor about prevention

Benefits

Benefits of TeloTest™

An objective health indicator

Telomere length provides a measurable reference point that complements routine health-check results.

Motivation for change

A biological-age assessment can become an incentive for a healthier lifestyle and long-term habit change.

Tracking progress

By repeating the test after some time, you can assess how lifestyle changes affect the results.

A simple procedure

The sample is obtained quickly and painlessly, and the results are presented in a clear report.
Overview

Who is TeloTest™ for?

The test is useful for people who want to follow their health consciously:

  • People interested in ageing processes and prevention
  • Those making lifestyle changes who want to assess their impact
  • People who care regularly about health and preventive medicine
  • Those looking for extra data for a conversation with their doctor
The journey

How does the TeloTest™ test work?

Providing the sample is simple, and you receive the results in an understandable format.

01

Order the test online or visit a partner clinic where a specialist takes the sample.

02

The sample is sent to the Fagron Genomics laboratory to determine telomere length.

03

The laboratory measures the average telomere length using a validated method.

04

You receive a report explaining the results and offering recommendations to support a healthy lifestyle.

Methodology

A science-based approach

Telomere research is one of the actively studied fields of ageing biology. Scientists have found that telomeres shorten with each cell division and that their length can reflect the cellular ageing of the body.

At the same time, it is important to understand that telomere length is only one of many health indicators and cannot be interpreted in isolation. TeloTest™ results are intended as additional information, not a diagnosis or prediction of specific diseases.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What exactly does TeloTest™ measure?

The test determines the average telomere length in your cells and compares it with average values for the corresponding age group in order to assess your approximate biological age.

Do shorter telomeres mean I have a disease?

No. Telomere length is one of the indicators of ageing, but it is not a disease diagnosis. The results should be interpreted together with other health data and are best discussed with a doctor.

How often should the test be repeated?

Because the effect of lifestyle on telomeres is gradual, a repeat measurement is usually recommended no more than once a year or after significant lifestyle changes.

Can the results be improved?

Studies suggest that a healthy diet, physical activity, quality sleep and stress reduction can have a favourable effect on telomere health, although a specific result cannot be guaranteed.
