Researchers at King's College London conducted an analysis of data from over 1,000 individuals with psoriasis to investigate the relationship between diet and disease severity. The study found that those who followed a plant-rich, low saturated-fat diet had significantly lower psoriasis severity compared to those who consumed a more Western-style diet high in meat, dairy products, and processed foods.
The findings suggest that dietary changes may be an effective way to manage psoriasis symptoms without the need for medication. A plant-based diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes is characterized by its emphasis on whole, minimally processed foods, which are typically lower in saturated fats and higher in fiber and other beneficial compounds. While more research is needed to confirm these results, this study provides evidence that dietary modifications may be a valuable adjunct to traditional treatments for psoriasis.
